At the Museum of American Art, I saw this is a delightful artwork by Mike Wilkins, called Preamble. He ordered personalized license plates from all 50 states and arranged them alphabetically on a wood board. When you first see it, it seems like a great idea. Then you tend to start reading the personalizations and it gets even better. Try it out: Start at the top and begin decoding it like you do when you are driving down the road and you spot a personalized plate. (I had to take two shots to get it all. )
