Little Girls and Mermaids

I always try to find a simple little craft the girls and their friends can do at family camp. I like a craft that is simple but endlessly creative, inexpensive and self-taught (after the first one.) Not always easy to find! I had been looking and did not have anything settled until the night before camp when I saw this darling idea  (Miss Lolly Dolly)and knew I had my craft. They were a hit! We all had a great time designing multiple little girl friends.

We used:
large Popsicle sticks
scrapbook paper
glue, scissors, marking pens
thin line black markers
tiny buttons, ribbon, lace bits, etc.
crafty friends ages 8-50 years
After we made a bunch, I remembered this little illustration from this favorite blog. I thought a little mermaid would be fun to try. The girls loved it and we were off to the sea. Tridents, Poseidon, Mrs. Poseidon and sea horses all made an appearance. So much creativity with such simple materials-my favorite kind of craft!
