Fresh buns are always welcome with soup on a cold, snowy day.
I also made this stroganoff recipe. Mix the above ingredients, (can substitute water for the pop), pour over stew meat and cook in crock pot on low for 5-6 or high for 3-4. Can also bake covered in a 300 degree oven for three hours.Monday, December 7, 2015
Snow Day Cooking
I tried an unusual recipe for lemon pie. It's from Martha Stewart and is called Shaker Pie. It uses two thinly sliced lemons, (one peeled) placed into a bowl with three c. of sugar overnight (stirred a few times), then mixed with 6 beaten eggs. Pour into a crust and top with another crust and bake at 450 degrees for 20 min. then reduce temp to 375 degrees and bake 30 minutes more. It was good. The flavor was very intense lemon. I did not like the peels, so would probably peel both lemons next time, and maybe just use a bit of the zest.

First Snow
We had a very warm fall and no snow until mid-November. Last week the 2-4" predicted showed up as 8-12" in our area. It was beautiful.
Outside classes were called off and the girls were out playing in the snow in record time. Big kitty Ted.
The morning frost made a lovely view at church that week.
Friend visit.
I pulled out the manatee for a dip in the "hot tub."
