White as Snow Ornaments

This is a very easy, simple project with great results. I had never used air dry modeling clay before, (Why? I have no idea!) It was a great medium to explore and easy to work with.
Each student got a set amount of clay. I had smooth cups and Pringles cans to use as rollers and used kitchen freezer paper to work on.

After rolling the clay out students imprinted it with evergreen snippings, plastic snowflake ornaments and/or crocheted doilies using their rollers to press them into the clay.
We used cookie cutters or the cup lip to cut out round ornaments and a straw to punch out hanging holes.
Lettering could be inscribed with toothpicks. We let the ornaments dry until the next class, then painted the edges with gold and added hanging strings.
