Ranch Reunion

My mom's family had a reunion last weekend on the other side of the state. Since we can't be two places at once, Daughter A. and Daughter W. went with my sister to that one. My mom and her 5 siblings grew up on a ranch 40 miles from most everything. The windmill in the top picture is the one from the ranch, where it still pumps water. Siblings: Widd, Ronnell, Mark, Jeanine, Harry, Jr. (Uncle Mel has passed away.) Pictures by Cousin Heather.

A Bit of Overnight

Friend Nicole, Friend Maria and Friend Ann came over after Monday's book club and stayed overnight. The summer has been so busy thus far that it was the first time that would work well. We are not real big "overnighters" anyway.
They went to the corner and brought back lovelies.
They slept in the "tree house." The girls are looking through the sides in the above picture, but you can't see them well. Below: A shot of inside the tree house. A nice place to sleep out.

Swim Lessons

We finished 2 weeks of swim lessons today. We went with our B. friends and one of our K. friends (not pictured.) The temps  in the high 90's were perfect for swimming every day.

Vintage Glasses

I have been finding some "new" glasses at the thrift stores. I like etched or pressed glass. It's fun to find pretty ones. Most of them only cost about 25 cents each. It helps to go to places other than Goodwill. My husband laughs at me when I say Goodwill is too expensive. The little vase is very petite and was only 10 cents at a rummage. Score!!!

Spirits

"Answer your summons; Juno does command: Come, temperate nymphs, and help to celebrate a contract of true love; be not too late." -The Spirits, The Tempest, Shakespeare

Daughter M was old enough to be in the Shakespeare Camp this year, and was a spirit and a sailor. In our group, this is one of the most anticipated events of the year. Actors receive their scripts months before camp begins, and are supposed to come to the first day with their lines learned. Then it is 6 hours of practice for  one week, and on Sat. 8 hours, plus the performance. They have done a full play of Shakespeare's every year for the last 4 years and have amazed us with their memorization and drama skills and enthusiasm every year.

Ariel and Prospero

"Full fathom five thy father lies; Of his bones are coral made; Those are pearls that were his eyes: Nothing of him that doth fade..."-Ariel, The Tempest, Shakespeare

The Tempest

Last night our kids put on their production of The Tempest. Daughter L. was Ariel. Daughter M was a sailor and sprite. Above, Mrs. B-H and Mrs. K, the two moms who conceived Shakespeare camp four years ago and "make it happen" every year. Below: cast picture. (Thanks to Friend Ana and Friend Lisa for letting me "steal "a few of these pictures from them.)
