Last night we were delighted to attend (with Husband's mom) a talk given by Paul Horsted, a former classmate of ours. He and I were co-editors (with another girl) of our high school newspaper, and we were also on the yearbook staff together.
Paul lives in Custer, SD with his wife and daughter, and has been a photographer for 30 or so years. He was a photographer for the states largest newspaper, and was also head photographer for SD Tourism for some years. He has written and published four books. Last night we bought one of the books-The Black Hills, Yesterday and Today-which shows old stereograph pictures
from the years 1874-1935 of the Black Hills area, and then shows shots he reproduced at the same sites.
His other two books are about Custer's 1874 mapping and exploration expedition from Fort Lincoln in ND to Custer, SD. Fascinating details, beautiful and interesting pictures. For more information go to Paul's website at dakotaphoto.com.
