Of course, we saw the Alamo. I was kind of disappointed that it was not out in a tumbleweed infested, barren, sandy landscape. It was only a couple of blocks from our hotel in downtown San Antonio.
We also toured Mission San Jose which was farther out of town. This "Queen of the Missions" is a large enclosed complex where the natives could come for protection and live, learn and worship. The grounds are a national park, but the church remains an active center of worship.
Blessed Sacrament Chapel-This was my favorite altar.
Mission Conception was the last mission we visited. All the aged lovely buildings and beautiful history were good for my soul.
I've been once there. Sooo impressive.
