Tradition

Tradition is the wisdom of time distilled into an act. -JGS

Let us not discard the wisdom of tradition for novelty and excitement.

  1. I love your insight Jannell. That is an amazing and poetic thought. Mind if I use it? After all, I've spent years quoting another of your wisdoms - "If you can sit, why stand. And if you can lay down, why sit?"

  2. Use away. It came from a discussion about a non-traditional baptism/dedication ceremony we attended. The first thing the pastor announced was that his main goal is to do away with tradition in "his" church. I must say that in just a PRACTICAL sense, the service was painful in its length and scope, and in a spiritual sense it was a little hollow, for me...

  3. I'm not sure if the sit/stand/lay quote is wisdom, although I sometimes say it is my UNOFFICIAL life motto. "Why stand if you can sit?... Why sit if you can lie down?" (Not really someting to be proud of, but true for me!)
