Government Class

Our homeschool Tutoring Center government class went to tour our capitol and watch the legislature work. Friend Nancy teaches the class and organized this great opportunity with her husband Mark.

The capitol is beautiful.
We sat in on legislative committees and one of the Republican Whips spoke to us and took questions.
A lobbyist  spoke to us before lunch. Mr. B is also one of our homeschool dads.

We were able to meet with seven legislators and ask questions, which was our kids' favorite part of the day. The two youngest legislators in this meeting were both homeschool graduates, and one of them is a homeschool dad.
We took a capitol tour before sessions started.

State Representative Jenna H. homeschooled with our older kids. She is in her second term as a Representative. This term, she encouraged her dad Don to run too, and they both won! We are so proud of them and have greatly enjoyed their family's friendship over the years. That's little sister Emma on the House floor with her sister and dad.

At the end of the day we braved the cold to look at some sculpture and veteran memorials.
